Number Nine – The undeniable classic Casio SK-1 (Sample Set) Unfortunately there’s not a plugin out there yet that emulates the sampling feature of an SK-1, but there’s some pretty good sound sets of the other built-in sounds, like this one.
Number Eight – Casiotone CT-101 Ableton Instrument. This is an ALP file to use in Ableton which is nice other than just having raw samples to work with. Here’s a 17mb soundpack from Seaweed Factory to be used in Ableton or anything really. You can also create your own patches from scratch and save them.

Number Six – Cheapo-Tone, this is another VL inspired plugin, but instead of using samples, this one is a true software synth with digital oscillators to create the tones. I’ve posted all the different CZ plugins because each has their own character and sounds. This is yet another CZ inspired 8 voice polyphonic synth. It comes bundled with 3 other Mothman synths. I modeled it specifically after the CZ-3000 with some slight differences. Not really exactly like an HT, but has some great sounds and very useful. Number two is what looks like one seriously awesome Casio CZ style emulator, The Kassiopeia!įor number three we’ve got the Plastique, an HT-700 inspired plugin.

Each listing has an individual download link, as well as mirrors. So if you’re looking for a simple drum machine that can also produce some powerful sounds, Sonic Charge Microtonic may be the plugin you need.In honor of ’s first ever Casio Day, I’ve put together this little collection of free Casio VSTs and sound banks! This is a collection of 7 Windows based VSTs, 2 sound banks, and one Ableton instrument that are all either Casio emulators, sampled from, or Casio inspired. Your project can contain up to 12 different patterns that you can chain one after another, effectively creating the drum structure of a whole song. You can adjust the frequency, select one of three waveforms, add distortion, noise, and even swing. The fact that you can easily synthesize each percussive sound gives you a lot of sonic freedom. A pattern can be constituted of no more than eight sounds, and they can be programmed via a very intuitive step sequencer.
The application comes with a few programs of its own, and each program has plenty of presets of its own for each drum sound. All the percussive sounds are created through synthesis, so this means that it’s all a matter of tweaking parameters until you hear something you like.
The interface is simple and intuitive, especially if you’ve used a subtractive synth before. Once you open Microtonic, programming your first drum pattern shouldn’t take long. So if your goal right now is to create drums that sound great and arrange them in a cool pattern, then Sonic Charge Microtonic may be what you’re looking for. But no matter if you’re a beginner or pro, it takes a lot of time and patience to actually create powerful drums with just the stock plugins. Depending on the digital audio workstation you have chosen, you may already have some tools that got you started. If you want to create club hits, then you need a catchy pattern and powerful kick drums there’s no way around this. If you’re looking for a drum machine, you probably know by now that drums are the backbone of most electronic music genres.
